In constant farmland agricultural use for 1000 years, the rich fertile soils of the Waianae volcano turned the spring water fed Ewa Plain into the most ideal four season growing area on Oahu.

The Hawaiian names for the farmlands tell the story: Kalo'i Gulch- the agricultural ponds for growing kalo and other native Hawaiian food staple crops. Honouliuli Gulch: Hono - harbor, valley, bay. Uliuli - Dark blue, green, verdant.

Now the entire ancient historic farmlands will be covered over in asphalt and concrete and called "Smart Development" and "Transit Oriented Development."  In reality big land developers will make a fortune and politicians get their kickbacks and payoffs.
